Sodium hydrosulphite is a crystalline powder that is colourless or white. It's required in the food industry to manufacture excellent jalebis, which are crispy on the surface and loaded with syrup on the inside and don't get soggy, due to its souring, buffering, and chelating agents.

  •  Sodium hydrosulfite is used as a bleaching agent and preservative in foods such as dried fruits, dried vegetables, vermicelli, glucose, sugar, rock sugar, caramel, candy, liquid glucose, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, and canned mushrooms.
  • It is a colourless to lemon-colored, crystalline solid with a rotten egg odor.
  • It's used to generate heavy water for nuclear reactors.
